WHAT YOU’LL NEED
A prepared homebuyer has a smoother, easier and less stressful experience. Knowing what you can afford eases the risk of walking into a transaction blindly. Often the hardest and most dreaded part of the process is meeting with a *mortgage lender and facing the facts of your finances. But don’t despair! Here are some tips I share with my clients to prepare, and hopefully alleviate, much of the stress caused by the unknown.
Have at least two years employment history
Find out the health of your credit score
Avoid big purchases (i.e. a new car) and opening new credit cards
Have funds for Earnest Money, downpayment and closing costs (approx. 20% of your yearly income saved)
Gather past two years tax returns, W-2s, recent pay stubs, bank statements, and current forms of ID
*for a list of local lenders I highly recommend, please reach out. I’m happy to share the resources to equip you!
